Investigations conducted by the Israeli occupation authorities into the failure of the "Metro Operation", during the offensive on the Gaza Strip in May 2021, confirmed that the Al-Qassam Brigades managed to detect the deceptive trick carried out by the Zionist forces with the aim of inveigling the resistance fighters to enter the tunnels and immediately bombing them.
The Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" revealed that the Al-Qassam Brigades understood the Israeli occupation forces' deception plan, yet they continued the operation and carried out extensive bombing of the tunnels.
"Maariv" added that the Israeli occupation military forces have deployed 20 armored vehicles on the border between northern Gaza and the occupied territories to trick the resistance factions into believing that a ground attack was underway, but this failed.

After the offensive, the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, said in a press conference that the intelligence of the resistance has helped detect the Israelis' deceptive plan to target the tunnels and thwarted it in advance.
